Push Rivet Generator

About Push Rivet Generator

Push Rivet Generator makes the plastic clips that hold car trim, wheel arch liners and panels: a push rivet, a slit sleeve whose legs a pin spreads behind the panel, or a one-piece fir-tree clip whose fins catch any panel stack in their range. You set the hole and the panels; the legs close to pass the hole, the pin prints lying so it bends along its layers, and test sizes 0.3 mm either side cover a rough measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Which filament should a car clip be?
PETG, ASA or nylon. PLA softens at about 60 °C and a car in the sun gets hotter; for clips in the sun all year, ASA or nylon. The checks warn for your printer's filament and where the clip goes.
Why does the pin print lying down?
A pin printed standing snaps between its layers when it bends. Lying on a flat, its layers run along it, so it bends instead of breaking.
How do I size a clip?
Measure the hole and the panels it holds. Turn on test sizes to print one 0.3 mm smaller and one larger beside it, each with its size on the head, and keep the one that holds.
What is the difference between a push rivet and a fir-tree clip?
A push rivet's legs are spread by its pin and come out again when the pin is pried up. A fir-tree clip is one piece: its fins bend through the hole and catch behind panels of a range of thicknesses.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Push Rivet Generator runs in the browser, and the geometry is built on your computer. It is free; you need a free NabiMakes account to download the files.
