What can you make with Hole Saw Holder Generator?
Holders for 1 to 40 saws from 14 to 210 mm. Makers print:
- A stand for a universal kit of 11 saws on the bench.
- An insert that brings order to the case the saws came in.
- A Gridfinity bin for an electrician's saws.
- An inch set with both names on every place.
How do you make a hole saw holder, step by step?
Everything is in the panel beside the holder, which updates as you change it. Start from a preset, then change what you need.
1. Start from a preset
Pick Universal 11, Electrician 12 with Gridfinity, Plumber 7, Inch 11 or Inch 22. A preset sets only what it names; Surprise me tries other post heights, gaps and names and keeps your saws.

The presets and the holder they make. 2. Type your saws
Their sizes separated by commas, in millimetres or in inches as decimals or fractions such as 2 1/8. Choose the names each place carries: metric, inch to the nearest sixteenth, or both, and the order.

Eleven metric saws, small to large. 3. Size the posts and the sockets
Each post is the saw less an allowance, 4 mm by default, or the saw's measured inside less your sliding fit. Set how many arbors and pilots to keep, and the arbor's hex shank across its flats: measure a 3/8 inch one.

Posts 4 mm under each saw. 4. Pick the base
Free-standing, in tiles cut between saws when larger than your bed; a case insert that fills your case's inside, low enough for the lid; or a Gridfinity bin, its units from the saws.

An electrician's set on Gridfinity. 5. Check it and download
The checks say how many tiles it needs, whether the saws fit your case or grid and whether the post walls print with your nozzle. Print the fit sample first if you are unsure, then download 3MF or STL.

Which print settings work best for a hole saw holder?
The holder prints flat on its base: posts and bosses stand straight up, so no supports are needed. The layer height is a starting point; the thinnest wall is the one the printer checks hold each filament to.
| Filament | Layer height to start | Thinnest wall | Supports | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PLA | 0.2 mm | 0.8 mm | None | Fine for a holder on the bench or in a drawer. |
| PETG | 0.2 mm | 0.8 mm | None | Tougher, for saws thrown back in a hurry. |
Tips for a holder that keeps its saws
- Print the fit sample first: the smallest and largest post and the sockets.
- Take the pilot drills out and keep them in their sockets: they snap when stored on the arbor.
- Dry the saws before putting them away.
- Measure your case's inside, floor to closed lid, for an insert.
- Before you print, check it on the view's bar: Dimensions shows its size, Measure the distance between two points, Section cuts it open and Layers steps through it as your printer will.
What if a saw will not go on, or the holder does not fit?
- A saw is tight on its post
- Raise the allowance, or measure the saw's inside and switch Post from to Measured.
- The checks say the saws do not fit the case
- Fewer saws, a smaller gap, or the holder free-standing beside the case.
- The arbor drops into its socket or will not go in
- Check the arbor shank across its flats; run the Fit Test so the socket takes your printer's offset.
- The checks say the Gridfinity bin is too large
- Press Apply for free-standing tiles, or keep fewer saws in the bin.
Is Hole Saw Holder Generator free?
Yes. Every size, base and download is free; downloading needs a free NabiMakes account, which also keeps your projects.
