PSU Enclosure Studio

About PSU Enclosure Studio

PSU Enclosure Studio designs a 3D-printed case that turns a computer power supply into a bench power supply. Enter your PSU's size, choose the binding posts, the variable module and the other components for the front panel, and download every piece. Each piece prints without supports and can be downloaded on its own.

What it is for

  • A bench supply with 4 mm binding posts on the 3.3 V, 5 V and 12 V rails of a reused PC power supply.
  • A front panel with a cut-out for a variable buck-boost module such as the XY-SK120 and its own output posts.
  • Adding USB fast chargers, a switch, an LED, a voltmeter or a fuse holder to the panel.
  • Reprinting or changing a single piece of the enclosure without printing the rest.

How to use PSU Enclosure Studio

  1. Measure the PSU. Pick the ATX, SFX or SFX-L preset or enter your power supply's width, height and depth, and choose whether it stands upright or lies flat.
  2. Lay out the front panel. Choose the variable module, the rails and their binding posts, and the components such as USB chargers, a switch or a fuse. Labels are engraved next to each one.
  3. Choose the frame. Set the border, corners and wiring depth, how the front and back are joined (rails, printed or metal rods, or side rails) and the fasteners (heat-set inserts, screws and nuts, or self-tapping screws).
  4. Download the pieces. Download the front panel, the back bezel, the joins and the optional wiring sleeve, together or one at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Which power supplies does it fit?
ATX, SFX and SFX-L power supplies from presets, or any box you measure (60–250 mm wide, 40–160 mm high, 60–260 mm deep), with the ATX or SFX screw pattern or none.
Which variable modules are supported?
Cut-outs for XY-SK60, XY-SK120, XY-SK150 and XY-SK120X modules and the DPS5005 type, or a custom cut-out with your own size. You can also leave the module out.
Do the pieces need supports?
No. Every piece is designed to print without supports.
Is it safe to open a computer power supply?
The tool only designs the case around the closed power supply; the wiring goes from its output cables to the front panel. Mains voltage is dangerous: if you are not sure how to wire it, ask someone who is.
Do I need to install anything?
No. PSU Enclosure Studio runs in the browser, and the geometry is built on your computer. You need a free NabiMakes account to use it and to keep your designs.
