About Part Generator
Part Generator makes simple functional parts for 3D printing without CAD. Pick a part from the library, adjust its size and details, see it on your printer's bed and download it. Each part checks its own settings, so it warns you before you print something that will not work.
What it is for
- A ruler in millimetres, inches or both, with engraved or raised ticks and your own label.
- ISO metric screws and matching nuts from M3 to M12, with an animated view of the assembly.
- A box that prints flat and folds into a box with a lid.
- A quick replacement part when you know the measurements but do not want to open CAD.
How to use Part Generator
- Pick a part. Choose a part from the library, sorted into Measuring, Fasteners, Mechanical and Household, or search for it.
- Adjust it. Change the size and details in the property panel. The checks warn about settings that will not print or fit.
- Preview. See the part in 3D on your printer's bed, at its real size.
- Download. Download the part as STL or 3MF and print it.
Frequently asked questions
- Which parts can I generate?
- Today a ruler, ISO metric screws with matching nuts and printable threads (M3 to M12) and a box that prints flat and folds up with a lid. A spur gear, a fan blade, a print-in-place hinge and a knob are announced.
- Which file formats can I download?
- STL and 3MF, laid out for printing.
- Can the ruler show inches?
- Yes. The ruler can show millimetres, inches or both, with millimetres on the front edge and inches on the back.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. Part Generator runs in the browser, and the geometry is built on your computer. You need a free NabiMakes account to use it and to keep your parts.
